Samantha Calavetta Shines at STU Summer Classic

Samantha Calavetta displayed one of the most impressive performances at the STU Summer Classic Tournament, firmly establishing herself as one of the top quarterbacks at the event. Known for having the strongest arm in the tournament, Sam’s pinpoint accuracy had fans and coaches alike asking, “Did that just happen?”
Her poise under pressure brings to mind the calm presence of Tom Brady, while her arm strength echoes that of D1 level Quarterback. Sam consistently delivered in tight windows with confidence and precision. Her decision-making was equally sharp—just as in the regular season, where she only threw five interceptions, she continued to protect the football and read defenses at an elite level.
A highlight moment came when she launched a 50-yard dime to a freshman wide receiver—a flawless, jaw-dropping pass that showcased her talent and leadership.
Now playing alongside new teammates from St. Thomas Aquinas, Samantha adapted seamlessly. The chemistry was evident from Day 1 of the tournament, with the offense clicking early and often. If this tournament is any indication, the 2026 season looks incredibly promising for this squad.
Special recognition also goes to the head coach of the St. Thomas Aquinas girls flag football team, who chose not to play standout senior Sherice Newton despite her presence on the sideline all weekend. His decision to prioritize team building and development over short-term gain reflects the highest level of respect and sportsmanship. Hats off to you, Coach.
Samantha Calavetta didn’t just play in the STU Tournament—she put on a show.
