STU Tournament 7/26/25
St. Thomas University

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the STU Tournament at St. Thomas University — and it did not disappoint. With 27 teams in attendance, the level of competition was intense and inspiring. Some of the best flag football athletes from across South Florida came to compete, putting on a show and proving why the sport is quickly becoming a national phenomenon.

From game-changing pick-sixes to deep-ball touchdowns that left spectators in awe, the action on the field was nonstop. What stood out most, however, wasn’t just the athleticism — it was the consistency. While many players passed the eye test early on, only a few managed to stay dominant throughout the tournament. Some were simply unstoppable, while others got exposed under pressure. That’s the beauty of tournaments like these — talent rises, and so does the truth.

I had the chance to meet several coaches and athletes over the course of the event. The passion they bring to the game is undeniable. And let’s face it — flag football doesn’t get nearly the same coverage as boys varsity football. There's no HUDL. No QuickCut. No regular Monday film study for these girls. That’s why events like the STU Tournament matter so much. They give these athletes a platform — not just to compete, but to be seen.

Several standout players quite literally jumped off the page and onto the field, showcasing their skills and raising their profiles. If you weren’t paying attention to flag football before, now’s the time to start. This isn’t just a Florida thing anymore — the sport is exploding across the country.

As for me and Prestine? We’ll definitely be attending this tournament on a yearly basis. Because when you see this much talent in one place, you don’t just watch — you invest.
